Shelters, rescues and foster homes constantly have new pets coming through their doors, which means they are always in need of supplies to care for them. Most of a shelter's funding goes towards providing the basics: food and a safe, warm place for pets to stay. Oftentimes, there is very little left over for other necessities. The resources that shelters do have are often worn down, broken, overused.
The good news is that we can support these organizations that do so much for our furry friends. Choose one, or all three of these care packs to send much-needed supplies to shelters, ensuring that these sweet animals have everything they need until they find their forever homes and they and their new families have an easier time adjusting once they get there. An environment where cats and dogs can feel safe, healthy, and happy while they await adoption is invaluable work that we can do together!
The Snack Pack
This option contains a bag of delicious cat treats, a donation to support the meal of a cat or dog and a puzzle feeder. Shelters go through bags and bags of food every week. With this kit, we can help lighten the load and provide a meal for a pet in need, this is in addition to the meal that your purchase customarily gives! Plus, the cat treats are great for rewarding good behavior, and during training. The puzzle dish is helpful for training dogs before they reach their forever home. It helps slow the dog's eating, aiding in digestion and helping to prevent choking. Shelters have to reuse bowls with the rotation of animals that come through their facilities, by providing this slow-feed bowl we can help replace old and worn out bowls.
The Active Pack
This pack contains a slip lead, a training treat bag, treats and waste bags. Leashes can get worn out after many uses, so it helps to replenish the shelter's supply. Slip leads are not only great for walks, but for safely moving the dog from place to place. The treat bags are helpful when training, which helps the shelter dog get ready for their forever family. Plus, trained dogs are more likely to get adopted. Waste bags are a necessity with dog-rescue organizations that go through many of these each year.
The Med Pack
This kit contains a multi-pack of gauze, vet tape, treats made specifically to hold pills, a thermometer, and a soft cone for pets recovering from surgery. Some animals come into a shelter needing medical attention and having basic medical supplies on hand is vital. Soft cones are a huge benefit as they are costly. These cones are more comfortable and help prevent a dog from getting to the area they needed medical attention. Being able to send a dog home with a comfy cone after surgery is a relief for both the pet and the family, because the sooner they can heal safely, the happier everyone will be.
August 2023: The San Diego Humane Society received a multitude of gifts include bowls, toys, treats and blankets. Their shelter was full of cats and dogs waiting for their forever homes, and with the packs sent the humane society was able to provide hundreds of dogs and cats with goodies. Some of which will go with the pet when they get adopted!
Summer 2023: Not only are the supplies being sent helping cats and dogs but pigs as well! Ruby is a potbellied pig that loves playing with her toys she received from GreaterGood. The North American Pet Pig Association works with people to rescue unwanted, abandoned, and abused pigs. They also help place rescued pigs into new and loving homes.
